Backlinks or content?

I have a sniper site that is making its way up the ranikings in google. I want to guaruntee that it makes it to number 1. Is it more important to build more backlinks with article submissions, or add more posts, or both? Which one would give me the most help in a low competition keyword?

I choose content though I am a linkbuilder. Because I can't be a linkbuilder if the site I am promoting is not worthy.

If your site has no unique content then Google will not rank you high and yes, even if you have gazillion backlinks.

So basically unique content is the most important, which is also logical. You will not receive natural backlinks without good content.
