Ah, the magic SEO questions! First of all, they keep changing the rules, secondly, there is no one answer for this unless you are prepared to spend a ton of money, and even then it may not be long term results for you. Google is definitely the giant, but it is easier to get lost in that web...Multiple exposure, most of which is free, will all combine to help your SEO results. You Tube, Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Photo Sharing sites, load your "stuff" on to as many as possible (all pointing to your main site, no matter where it is hosted) and update as often as possible, your rankings will climb and hold higher positions for a longer period of time this way. Picassa Web Albums and even Twitter Pics would be a great tool for you to use for the images. Do not discount videos, everyone is getting lazy and they do not want to read anymore, they expect to be wowed. You can even embed your videos to multiple sites and increase you SEO that way. I am a huge fishing fan and nothing would inspire me more to book you than seeing some cool videos of your clients actually catching fish, the local scenery etc. The videos do not have to be professional by any means, get your teenage nieces, nephews, neighbors to help you out with this.
So, bottom line, where you host in the long run has sooo little to do with your SEO, a free blogspot will do just as well if you get traffic to it effectively. Hope this helps.
Good Luck, feel free to email me if you do not understand this rant!
