*stands up from chair*

'Hello everybody, my name is James and I'm a Geekaholic'

*coughs nervously*

'I've Been a Geek for a few years now, and its been 3 years since I last did anything cool and well each day gets that little bit easier but I just sometimes miss being cool...'

hehehe

Hi, been a reader of the boards for a while, and decided to lose the shyness and jump right in...

Anyway I'm Jimmy From the UK, Milton Keynes, if anyone is nearby then as you go past the BP petrol garage nr Conniburrow,. you can wave as you go past,

Well, As are most people on the site I'm a script and web developer, I mainly create scripts for on-line booking, hotels, taxi firms, that sort of thing.

I actually fell into web development completely by accident, I know this sounds weird, but a few years ago I was messing around with file extensions on my Desktop, (I was a welder at the time btw...) and was changing the extension of a text file to see what would happen.

Like you do....

Any way I was amazed (at the time remember I wasn't expecting any results!) to discover that what i wrote in the text file APPEARED IN THE BROWSER!!!

'Would you look at that?' I thought, but with a little more excitement...

well as it happens about three months after that I had an accident which changed the course of my life, namely a work accident, no-ones fault really, defiantly not the work, the more I look back the more I KNOW I was more at fault than anyone else, luckily only I was injured, and I had to take a considerable amount of time off work.

Now sorry girls but I just don't like The Jeremy Kyle show, and the thought of 12 months of him would turn my brain to cheese, so I looked up the Open University web site and looked up a web development course, I took it and gained a Certificate in Web Applications Development and after the 12 months of solid graft, I PASSED!!! YAY for ME!!!

he he.

any way I am now in the middle of a Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Studies and haven't really looked back since....
