I'm stumped.
My site has been "out there" for quite some time and I've done a pretty fair job of keeping it findable.
Several months ago, well many months ago, I added a new section. "Crafts."
Which is a page with several links to my various crafts pages.
The page in question today is one all about the polymer clay canes I've been making.
It's nothing but pictures of each one. Keywords are peppered through out the page, and on my index page. I have actually submitted my clay canes page directly to google. Plenty of time has passed and it's not being picked up!
(I'm not spamming here, but surely someone will want to see the page I'm talking about.) From my index page, ArtmakersWorlds.com click crafts, click polymer clay canes.
Brings you here. artmakersworlds.com/PolymerClayCanes.shtml
So... doing a search on google. (searching images) Nothing. Nada.
Well actually that's not entirely true. IF I tack onto my "polymer clay cane" search my site domain name, artmakersworlds which NO ONE would actually do,
this is really odd. Only a one cane set I have on my etsy shop shows up.
As do a few other items of mine on etsy, including one that has nothing to do with polymer clay.
And.... WHY are slices of one of my web site graphics showing up in a search at all?
Bits of my navigation thingy are coming up. but no canes.
So... last night I tried the same search on yahoo.
Seems yahoo ONLY wants to index it's own flickr sites. Even if I put -flickr or "not flickr" tried the advance search with no flickr, no good. ALL I get are images stored on flickr.
(maybe I need to set up shop there.)
Finally I tried MSN today. Low and behold, just a few of mine actually show up on the top row. My GOD did MSN get something right? lol.
Does anyone have a clue why google won't see this page?
Is it because it's three pages in? Well gee, my etsy is one of countless thousands and it found that.
Is it the SHTML I use?
Years ago I knew using long winded java scripts was death, I like the cool factor though so keep my fancy nav bar. But is that really what's killing me here?
Anyone have a clue?
