How does Google News select their featured source for a story?

And the other 2 or 3 stories related to it under that. Then there are 3 or 4 other sources listed under that that you can click on?
Like today I saw a story on there that was about the Minnseota Bridge collapse and the main story's source was from the San Jose Mercury News. I don't get it.

It all depends on the zip code or the country that you live in. They get the news feed from the news servers and you get what is applicable to your area. You also get the world news and just what is current on the news servers.
