How do I get messages in my Gmail inbox Sub folder ?

For some reason, my Gmail inbox is now showing not only the Subject of the incoming email, but also the first few words of the message. How to I put it back so that it only shows the Subject line and not the message contents on the main Inbox page? Thanks
