A very big player in the field of RSS has announced that it will be closing down several free consumer services. Most notable is the NewsGator Online service, an online feed reader/aggregator, similar to Google Reader.
Although this service wasn't very heavily trafficked, it did serve as a point of feed synchronization for several reader platforms. If you're a user of NetNewsWire, FeedDemon, or NetNewsWire for the iPhone, then you will need to follow their Product Transition Instructions.
They still plan to continue offering the NetNewsWire (Mac), FeedDemon (Windows), and NetNewsWire for the iPhone.
Why are they shutting down these services?
They say that their enterprise level business has really taken off and they want to focus on that.
