Optimizing for Yahoo

Postby jconnel » Fri Jan 15, 2010 8:20 am

I would just like to know exactly what is the basis of yahoo for their rankings...Is it the keywords or the backlinks or number of hits for the page?? Please let me know the main factors so that I can be careful when I am creating my new site next month.

Thanks!

Yahoo is the most popular search engine. The new Yahoo search engine gives more importance to keyword density. A Website with high keyword density may fare well in Yahoo. Yahoo considers inbound links highly important. Inbound links are the links from other sites pointing to your site. Having considerable links, with appropriate link texts, from quality sites increases your site's ranking in Yahoo.

It is with Yahoo the same as with Google a lot of factors, Google counts more then 200. Some are known others aren't so it is hard to predict which factors are the most relevant. I think how ever that the main SEO is the solid base for rankings. Main SEO:
- quality content
- title tag
- meta description
- quality backlinks

google looks more on the quality backlinks on a particular site. Yahoo looks more on the keyword density and the content of the site.

For optimization in Yahoo, what you should do is to find those sites which are indexed in Yahoo already, would be great for Yahoo optimization.
