Should I bold and/or italicize my keywords

Hello All,

I have a site in which i am using Tags and keywords to gain Search Engine Optimization. My Friend has advised me to bold or otalicize my keyowrds so that they will be caught by the Search Engine easily.

I couldnt make out if it was true. Can some one direct me?
