A Simple SEO Question About Google & Backlinks

Postby gaskill » Sat Jan 16, 2010 11:03 am

My question is about regarding exactly how Google uses backlinks. This may seem simple, but basically I'm wondering if backlinks optimize your webpage because Google bots crawl the other web page that has your link on it and they follow that link to your page, or do they measure backlinks by people actually USING the link to go to my webpage?
Thank you in advance to anyone for help!

Hi gaskill,

Concept is very simple just like the question, Google can not determine whether a website is relevant to a keyword or not by just scanning the text on the website, there are several other factors needs to be counted. So Google track the human behavior means, if someone visited a website and found it interesting and relevant then he/she might create link to that page. So Google count it as a ranking factor. The better the website you get link from, better will be the improvement in your results.
