Still no search from bing

Been working on our site for about 3 years have issued sitemaps for bing etc still no search terms seem to be generating any traffic. My question is do the sitemaps affect the traffic from the websites? Also, I have seen some traffic exchange websites. Is it good to use them to increase traffic? Please advice.
