Toolbar virus??

Hello Friends,

I am using Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox browsers.

I am also using Avira Antivirus. I downloaded the Google toolbar from the google website onto both these browsers.

Everything was working fine for few days and then my Avira started throwning error that there is virus in my Google toolbar. Amazingly it showed the error only in IE 8 ad not in Firefox.

I removed the toolbal from IE and now i am afraid to reinstall it.

Can you let me know what could have been the reason and if its safe to install now?
