What if you saw your site slip down the listings at Google?

Hello,

What is the first thing I need to do if I see my site dropping in ranks. Say from 1st position to the second. Should I be checking my keywords again? My keywords are all the same. No changes. I probably think I will need to check my backlinks. But how should that be done?
